Statoil Lubricants’ background and experience goes back to 1896 when Krooks Petroleum was formed. The company changed name in 1934 to Svenska Petroleum AB Standard and again in 1951 to Svenska Esso AB as it became a fully owned Exxon corporation. The involvement in lubricants business was large and a blending factory was built in Stockholm. In 1985 Svenska Esso AB was sold to Statoil and the company changed name in Sweden to Svenska Statoil AB.
In 1990 Statoil bought Nynäs Industries which was one of the leading lubricants companies on the Swedish market. Nynäs has a blending factory in Nynäshamn and also a world class in-house Research and Development department dedicated to lubricants.
In the late 1990's, Technaft in Poland was acquired, which gave Statoil Lubricants an industrial platform in the Polish market together with possibilities to blend lubricants in central Europe. Currently, Statoil holds a position in Poland as the the second largest Western European supplier of lubricants based on volumes sold.
All companies above are a vital contribution to our knowledge today. Our field of operations extends to all areas in which lubricants perform various tasks. This includes industry, transport, forestry, earthmoving, metalworking and machining, shipping and many others.
